About the California City Police Department
California City is located in California’s scenic high desert and at the base of the Eastern Sierra Mountains. The city boasts the third largest land size in the state, covering more than 200 square miles and is home to more than 14,000 residents. Bordered by the historic Edwards Air Force Base to the south, California City is easily accessed by highways 14 and 58. California City’s natural beauty serves as a gateway to the surrounding mountains and lakes and a variety of recreation opportunities. California City’s open land is a popular destination for off-road enthusiasts and campers. There are two elementary schools, a middle school, and a new high school that serve California City. The city is conveniently located 60 minutes from Bakersfield, 90 minutes from Los Angeles, and 3 hours from Las Vegas.
Staffed by 17 sworn Officers and 13 non-sworn personnel, the California City Police Department is a full service agency dedicated to the citizens of California City. The Department strives to provide the highest quality officers and service to it's citizens. Officers serve in assignments such as uniformed patrol, investigations, off-road search & rescue, and the Special Enforcement Team (S.E.T.).
